A Scout Sunday Service was hosted by Shohola Boy Scout Troop #76 at St. Patrick’s Church in Milford on Feb. 8.

Approximately 60 area scouts were in attendance, accompanied by their leaders, parents and siblings. The service commenced with the Procession of the Color Guard, Pledge of Allegiance, Scout Oath, and Word of Welcome by Fr. Gregory Kelly, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church. Hymns, led by Marilyn Bradley, were sung and accompanied by her husband Dan Bradley, organist. Bradley is also an Assistant Scoutmaster of the Matamoras Boy Scout Troop #77.

The Scout Law was recited, along with a Reading from the Old Testament. After the Gospel was read by Fr. Kelly, a number of the scouts took part in a special “Liturgical Drama” written by Troop Chaplain John Babbitts. The program concluded with the National Hymn of the United States. Prior to departure, everyone gathered for fellowship and refreshments.

The Boy Scouts of America have historically designated Scout Sunday as a day to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to scouting.
