Shohola Scouts prepare for Klondike Derby

MILFORD — The Boy Scouts of Shohola Troop 76 are preparing for the Klondike Derby, an annual winter event that pays tribute to the Klondike Gold Rush.
The event aims to make Scouts think, put their scouting skills to work, demonstrate teamwork and scouting spirit, and to offer fun outdoors. To prepare, patrols build sleds based upon strict specifications and organize equipment that will be needed on the trail.
The Scouts extend their gratitude to Ray and Karin Willis of Ray’s Auto Repair for hosting the troop’s “Klondike Prep” in their garage at 104 Ironwood Court, Milford (off Schocopee Road). Their large garage made it easier for the Scouts to work on their sleds together,as a team.
Troop 76 will be heading off to compete with a number of different units at the Delaware River District’s Klondike Derby, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, at Francis A. Hanfee Park in Liberty, N.Y.
