Things looking up in Dingman

DINGMAN TOWNSHIP — Chris Wood, Dingman zoning and sewage enforcement officer reported some positive signs of economic activity, judging by the number of inspections and applications coming through to his office, at the township meeting Tuesday.
“It’s much bigger than last few years, not like in 2005, but it’s been solid,” he said. “There’s been new construction, septic inspections, and one new house about to be permitted this week with sewer repair.”
Wood added, “It’s been busy but not super busy,” prompting Chair Thomas Mincer to comment, “But it is getting busier.” He added some are foreclosure homes that are now starting to move.
Wood acknowledged that banks are starting to become a little more cooperative.
Wood also reported the annual Cleanup Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, went well despite the adverse weather. “It was kind of wet and rainy on Saturday Cleanup Day. It didn’t help it was pouring down. Numbers were a little low, but not too low. They were well over the Spring Cleanup Day.”
Among the items were lots of electronics; almost 30 cubic yards, and over 60 yards have been collected in 2015. They included 119 TVs, the number one item in the collected list. Hundreds of smaller items were also collected, Wood continued.
Mincer said many towns don’t do cleanups now and thanked everyone involved for their hard work. He congratulated everyone because, “We we still have one.”
He continued to say it helps to keep the township tidy. “Cleanup materials that would be building up in garages are brought to the day. It’s a thorough compliment to the town, everyone works so hard to have these.”
In other business, Lake Adventure’s regulations language needed to be changed concerning what a recreational vehicle is, and the township put it together.
“It’s just dealing with some of the documentation for some of the vehicles that are there,” Mincer said. Public documentation will be available about the new regulations.
Mincer also added jokingly, referring to the short meeting, “I love these winter meetings, it’s quiet. Maybe it’s in preparation for the upcoming five meetings in about a month when the budget season starts.”
The tentative dates for budget meetings are Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 4 and Nov.r 17, and also at regular scheduled meetings there will be discussions about the budget.
