Local winner in ‘Fanciest Chicken' photo contest

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — Purina Mills® has named the Mayes family of Port Jervis and their bird Stripe as fanciest grand prize winners in the America’s Fanciest and Funniest Chicken Photo Contest®. Contestants entered pictures of their fanciest bird struttin’ his stuff or their funkiest chicken doin’ his funniest thing. Winners were selected for both the fanciest and funniest categories based on originality, overall artistic composition, use of color and photo quality. Ten grand prize winners in each category receive a one-year’s supply of a Purina® SunFresh® Recipe Poultry feed of their choice for one bird. All other winners receive recognition and a Purina® SunFresh® Recipe apron. “Stripe was hatched in our son’s kindergarten class. He was five-months-old in this picture. He is a beautiful, multi-colored rooster,” Tom Mayes said “We’re very proud that Stripe was a winner,” said Wende Clausen, manager of Farmside Supplies, of Sussex, N.J. “Farmside Supplies is happy to provide quality Purina Mills chicken feed for Stripe and all other local birds,” she added.
