Marketing in Pike's tourist economy

    MILFORD - The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is collaborating with the Pike County Chamber of Commerce to provide a workshop for small business owners in the area. This seminar is geared toward individuals who have a business, but need advice on marketing to both year-round and tourist customer bases. “Marketing in a Tourist Economy” will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Northampton Community College’s Pike County Site, in the Shohola Business Center on Route 6. A Small Business Consultant with the University of Scranton-SBDC will discuss the dos and don’ts of effective marketing to tourists. The program will include how to do market research, target new markets, and make use of electronic marketing venues. Tips will be given on adjusting to seasonalities in customer flow and what appeals to the tourist market. This is a great seminar for anyone who serves the tourist market. The cost of the seminar is $5 for members of sponsoring organizations, and $10 for non-members. Pre-registration is required.
