WESTFALL - Last month, seven Delaware Valley High School band members, accompanied by Lance Rauh, band director, traveled to the campus of Marywood University to participate in the annual Marywood University Honors Band. The following freshman represented DVHS in the invitational band festival. Flute players, Caitlin Anderson and Nicole Shores, bari sax player, Jenae Shoup, trumpet player, Tim Gillies, French Horn players, Stefeny Allen and Frank Franchi, and trombone player, Amber Myer Horning. All participated in the festival. They were among 150 area students selected to participate in the weekend-long festival of music. Under the direction of Marywood University director of bands, Professor William Weber, band students from all over the area (including upstate N.Y.) had the opportunity to perform high-level band literature. The students enjoyed two days of intensive rehearsals that culminated in a concert displaying the talents of all the students involved. Students enjoyed an educational weekend of music while gaining the experience of interacting with other high school and college musicians. As a result of Friday morning’s audition, Amber Myer finished first chair in her section of six players, while Caitlin Anderson finished third flute in her section of 40.
