Matamoras armed forces parade

MATAMORAS — Veterans Memorial Park & Education Center Society is sponsoring a parade to be held on Armed Forces Day, Saturday May 16. This is the inaugural parade to be held this day. It is anticipated that this will become an annual event. The parade will step off at 1 p.m., from Matamoras Borough Hall on First Street. All veterans, regardless of affiliation with or without organizations are welcome. Participating veterans may march, or ride, if unable to walk. Other non-veteran organizations may take part by marching or entering a float. The parade will march down Pennsylvania Avenue and turn left down Eighth Street to Airport Park and Vets Park. There will be a short ceremony following the parade at Veterans Park. We encourage the general public to get out and support your veterans by lining the Avenue and then attending the ceremony following the parade. Contact 491-4202 or 491-4003 with any questions.
