Merchant Marine & Navy Armed Guard vets still sailing'

Matamoras The Delaware Valley chapter of U.S. Merchant Marine and Navy Armed Guard will celebrate its eleventh year as an active chapter of the national AMMV, an organization benefiting all seafarers who served in times of war and peace. Each year, a National Maritime Day recognizes the US Merchant Marine for its long and proud tradition of service to America. In World War II, the maritime suffered the highest casualty rate of all military services. Local chapter meetings are open to all former and current Merchant Marine, Navy Armed Guard, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, Gulf and Iraq seafarers and their guests. Meetings are at 11 a.m. on the 4th Thursday of each month at Best Western in Matamoras.
