Milford Magazine appoints new editor
MILFORD n Pike Media Partners, publishers of Milford Magazine, announced today that they have named Irene Prokop as editor, effective immediately. Publisher Deborah DuCharme says,” We are so fortunate to have someone with Irene’s credentials join our team. Not only is she a talented editor, but she has a tremendous sense and understanding of our area and community.” Prokop began her magazine publishing career with the MacFadden Women’s Group in New York City before joining Random House as a nonfiction book editor with the Crown Publishers division. While at Crown she was primarily responsible for parenting and childcare books, before moving to Putnam to become Editor in Chief of the Jeremy P. Tarcher imprint. Most recently, Prokop has been executive director of the Creative Nonfiction Mentoring Program, sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh. She won first place in the Pike County Arts Council writing competition in 1987 and second place in 1986 for her short stories. As a summer and weekend resident of Milford since 1983, Prokop brings a love of the Delaware Highlands, as well as her editing and publishing experience, to Milford Magazine. Regarding her new role as editor, Prokop said: “I am thrilled to be able to work with Deborah DuCharme, Sean Strub, and the staff at Milford Magazine, which is recognized as a first-rate publication in the tri-state area. Ed Wetschler, who is a superb editor, has left me a wonderful legacy, and for this I am truly thankful. I also look forward to contributing to the community and to making Milford my permanent, year-round home.”
