Milford woman is cruise line it' girl finalist
MILFORD Norwegian Cruise Line on Friday announced that a Milford woman is one of five finalists in its “Search for the Latitudes It’ Girl” contest. Mary O’Dea is one of five finalists selected from hundreds of video entries in a cruise line contest to select a “Godmother” for their newest ship. The line says the Godmother will christen a new cruise ship in December ceremonies in New York City and win a free luxury cruise. Mrs. O’Dea, 75 and the mother of four, submitted an entry for the contest illustrating “how Norwegian Cruise Lines, and their crew members, are a part of her life,” the cruise line reported in a press release. She has sailed on eight NCL cruises and is a living advertisement for the cruise line. “They’re wonderful,” she told the Courier. “The cruises are relaxed. We’ve met people and crew members over the years that we’re still touch with,” she said. The contest winner will be named Godmother of the line’s new ship, Norwegian Gem. Finalists were selected from more than 500 online video entries submitted by Latitudes members (made up of past NCL guests) showcasing why they should be named the ship’s Godmother and how they embody the qualities of an “It” Girl. Finalist videos are now posted on www.gemitgirl.com and those who register, can vote for their favorite to help NCL pick the winner. Mrs. O’Dea said she would appreciate any votes she receives. The contest ends on Dec. 7. The cruise line says the five finalists will be “whisked away” to Norwegian Gem’s christening ceremony on Dec. 18, in New York City where the winner will be announced and then christen the ship. Additionally, she will receive the ultimate “It” Girl treatment on a fabulous seven-day cruise in Norwegian Gem’s posh Garden Villa for her and five members of her entourage.
