Music students chosen for Marywood

WESTFALL - Six Delaware Valley Middle School and four Delaware Valley High School string students have been accepted to play in the Marywood University Junior High Honors Orchestra. The students will travel with their orchestra director, David Swinehart, to Marywood University in Scranton on Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20 to work with guest conductor Joseph E. Fields. The students will join many other string players from all over northeast Pa. for this exciting two-day festival. The students will then perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Marywood University. The program is expected to include: Wolfgang Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” Leroy Anderson’s “Plink, Plank, Plunk,” Antonio Vivaldi’s “Allemanda from Sonata in F Major,” Erik Satie’s “Gymnopedie #1” as well as “Ashoken Farewell” from the PBS series, “Civil War,” and a medley of themes from the motion picture, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”
