Milford — The tentative 2009 Milford Township operating budget is likely to look a great deal like this year’s budget, Secretary-Treasurer Viola Canouse reports. Milford Township’s 8-mill tax rate will remain unchanged and the township portion of the township-county tax bill for an average house and property, one assessed at $45,000, would be about $360, barring unforeseen major changes by the Milford Supervisors. Presenting her recommended budget Monday, Canouse told the supervisors that some township revenues were down “quite a bit,” but that Real Estate Transfer Taxes had “made up the difference for us.” Canouse recommends total 2009 expenditures of $466, 491, compared to $475,698 budgeted for the current year. The supervisors are expected to review the budget at November’s first meeting and advertise it for preliminary adoption on Nov. 17. Final adoption, after a month of public review, is required prior to the end of the year.
