New staff on board at GAIT Center

MILFORD - GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center has hired an administrative assistant, Georgiana Kratske, replacing Lorraine Laucella, who is leaving for a full-time job in New Jersey. Laucella began volunteering for GAIT in 2001 after her son rode in the program for a session. “I wanted to do something to help this organization that made such a difference in my son’s life, and having worked for a law firm in New York City for several years I felt I could help with their paperwork and organization.” In 2002, Laucella’s dedication and efficiency was rewarded with a part-time position created for her by GAIT. Her responsibilities have grown along with the organization these last five years. Recently, she accepted a full-time position with a company in New Jersey. “We are sorry to see her go and wish her well in her new adventure,” said Martha Dubensky, GAIT executive director. Laucella will, however, remain on the Board of Directors of GAIT. “You know I can’t just walk away from GAIT. I love it and all that is done here too much,” she said. Dubensky said there was an overwhelming response to the advertisement of the part-time administrative assistant position. The Board of Directors has since announced that Kratzke has accepted this position. Kratzke has extensive expertise with computers, Web sites and office organization skills. She loves what is done at GAIT and is very happy to be part of it. “There is a lot more work in this office than what meets the eye,” said Kratzke, “so I am happy that Lorraine was willing to train me before she goes.” “I am very excited to be here, and can’t wait to meet all the volunteers and riders that we service,” she added. GAIT is a non-profit therapeutic riding center whose mission is to improve the quality of life of children and adults with special needs resulting in a more independent life in society.
