No new requests from Gateway developer
DINGMAN Township officials Tuesday said an extension for a controversial development project currently is not on their agenda. Crescent Lake Community Association spokesman Pat Staab asked the township supervisors if Dominic “Dino” Bradlee, developer of the Gateway Project on state Route 739, would be granted another six month extension for submission of plans for his project. “If he asks for it, and everything is in order, we’ll grant it.” Supervisors Chair Mincer said adding, “At this moment there are no plans and no applications for the Gateway Project in front of us.” Supervisors Vice-Chairman Dennis Brink told Staab, “Right now Bradlee is looking to putting in a sewage treatment facility with a land based discharge system after treatment. Bradlee says there will be no discharge into any township streams.” A newly amended ordinance regulating Pike County recyclable containers kept at the township maintenance garage has been working. The ordinance regulates what can be put into the township recycling containers and provides penalties for violations. Township Sewage/Zoning Enforcement Officer Chris Wood said people finding the containers full are now taking their recyclables back with them and returning at another time. They used to just leave what didn’t fit into the containers on the ground or on top of the containers. The county is picking up the full containers more frequently than they used to do, Wood said. Township Fire Chief Bill Mikulak reported Pike County is purchasing a computer aided automatic dispatch system. Mikulak said it didn’t cost the county anything as they were able to get grant money. The new system will be able to dispatch emergency vehicles by tracking and pinpointing a person’s location if a cell phone is used to call 911. In other business the conditional zoning use application of Mark and Sally Heiblim which would allow them to open a two-bedroom, Bed-and-Breakfast was approved. Mincer said that all issues except for an easement have been resolved. Alternate Township Solicitor Tom Farley told Heiblim the township engineer would be sending an enforcement officer out to make sure all safety issues such as smoke detectors were in compliance. Farley went on to say, “You must also provide all building permits and other documents properly executed and recorded, paid for, and time stamped before the maps relating to your application will be released.” Assistant Sewage/Zoning Enforcement Officer Frank Buteau submitted a letter to the supervisors requesting the installation of a soda vending machine in the lobby of the township building. Mincer said, “If we do this we’ll have to sell the soda at cost, so we don’t realize a profit from the machine.
