DINGMAN — “Blue Ridge Cable cost me a house,” said John Dyczko. Dyczko wanted to purchase a home located on Log Tavern Road in between the Pike County Library and the Dingman Township Fire Department. This is an area not serviced by Blue Ridge. Dyczko called Blue Ridge and asked them how much it would cost to get service installed at the house. They told him $50,000 and he said, “I’ll FedEx you a check in the morning.” The Blue Ridge spokesperson became silent, then told him they still wouldn’t provide service to that area at any price. “I called the Governor’s Office in Harrisburg and spoke with someone from the Office of Business and Economic Development Corp. He went ‘ballistic’ over the fact that I was willing to pay their price but they would not provide service.” Dyczko went on to say, “I was willing to pay their exorbitant price and they basically told me to ‘blank, blank, blank in a hen’s basket!’” The gentleman from the Governor’s Office called everyone at Blue Ridge and they gave him the run around also. Dyczko said the Governors’ Office told Blue Ridge, “According to your franchise agreement you have to provide service if the customer is willing to pay your price.” “The whole installation question went nowhere and I decided to give up the house I really wanted and purchased a home in a nearby lake community which has cable service already,” Dyczko stated. Dyczko wanted the house he chose because he needed cable service for his business. He was willing to pay any price to get it and Blue Ridge Cable, who Dyczko says has the exclusive franchise in Dingman Township, just wouldn’t budge from their position. “I’ll be at the next township supervisors meeting and voice my complaint,” Dyczko said at the end the conversation, with a note of sarcasm to his voice.
