MILFORD - Carla Nolan, Director of Human Resources at Altec Lansing, has just joined the United Way of Pike County Board of Directors. “I have an affinity for tightly-knit small communities like Milford. I love the feel of a small town atmosphere, particularly when people care about their neighbors and look out for one another’s well being in times of need,” she explained. Nolan grew up in a small county on the coast of North Carolina, very similar in size, demographics and feel to Milford. She says she is eager to share the wealth of experiences she has gained through twenty years working in various industries including consumer electronics, telecommunications, public service and specialty chemicals. A graduate of NC Wesleyan College, Nolan specialized in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems. Nolan and her husband, Jeff, and daughter Skylar, 14, and son, Vaughn, 8, have just celebrated their first year anniversary as Milford residents, and she says “I look forward to being part of Pike County United Way, an organization that encourages and enables care and concern. It’s this type of collaboration that truly differentiates a community and makes it a great place to live. We are all looking forward to getting to know more folks in the community.” For information about Pike County United Way call 570-296-9980, e-mail uwpc@ptd.net or visit the Website www.unitedwaypike.org.
