ONeil donates book proceeds to United Way

MILFORD – Milford resident, Chuck ONeil, is donating all proceeds from the sale of his poetry books to the United Way of Pike County. His books The Perfect Scar and Eating Out paint from everyday life: a walk to the river, domestic violence, Little League Baseball, college days, the war in Viet Nam. Rich with imagery from the natural world, the poems also move through the human emotional landscape with an eye toward hope and transcendence. His chapbook Memorial Days is dedicated to veterans who were lost in the battle of their hometown returns. The poem was a front-page feature in last years Memorial Day issue of the Courier. A native of Connecticut, ONeil was editor of his college literary magazine, a commune-dweller, and a musician. Hes currently the owner of an architectural woodworking business, husband, father of four, and an avid supporter of the United Way of Pike County. Peter Ioppolo, board president, stated: the support of our community is overwhelming. It has been my pleasure to work with so many people who have a desire to support Pike County residents that are in need. Last year, the United Way of Pike County allocated about $90,000 to 23 human service agencies that provide clothing, food, and shelter to our county. We are getting ready to start our allocations for this year and the help from Mr. ONeil will be supporting this process. Chuck ONeils books and chapbook are available in Milford at Mill Run Booksellers, The Gallery and Seventh Street Coffee. Cost for books is $7 each, $3 for the chapbook with all proceeds donated to United Way of Pike County.
