Park names deputy superintendent
BUSHKILL Superintendent John Donahue has announced Robert (Bob) Karotko, of the National Mall and Memorial Parks, has been selected for the position of Deputy Superintendent at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Karotko has served as chief of the Visitor Services Division for the National Mall and Memorial Parks since December 2001. In that position, he was responsible for the operations and visitor service functions on the National Mall, Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site and the Old Post Office Tower. In his new position, he will direct park staff responsible for the protection of park resources, visitor enjoyment, and maintenance, and administration. He will assume his new responsibilities in mid-September. Karotko is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry and a Master’s degree in Recreation Management. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He will be relocating to this area with his wife Carol, also a Penn State graduate. They have two sons: Matthew who is married and living in Louisville Kentucky and Aaron, married and living in Whitehall, Maryland.
