Milford — A dynamic leader, known for his accomplishments in the Scranton and Northeastern Pennsylvania business community, is about to take Pike County by storm. Scott J. Weiland accepted Pike County Chamber of Commerce’s offer to become the new Executive Director. He brings with him a multitude of experiences and ideas that are certain to carryout the Chamber’s mission; including accelerating business growth, enhancing the community’s quality of life and providing value-added programs and benefits to promote membership. “We are very excited to have found such an experienced and qualified individual to help lead our Chamber into the future,” stated Pike Chamber President, Paul Brislin in a recent letter to current chamber members. Weiland has been the Communications Director with The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce since 1998. The new Executive Director has identified the need to raise non-dues revenue in addition to growing membership and dues related revenue. With the Scranton Chamber, Weiland was successful in developing a non-dues annual fund raising program. Weiland is enrolled with Marywood University’s Doctor of Philosophy program where he anticipates earning his PhD in the Interdisciplinary Program in Human Development this coming May. His dissertation is titled: “What is the relationship among infrastructure, business climate, and workforce and the growth of northeastern Pennsylvania’s businesses?” Since 2004, Weiland has been an Adjunct Professor at Penn State Worthington Scranton, campus, and he taught for four years at Marywood University. Weiland has been described by his professional references as a motivated, hard working person and a visionary thinker with tremendous entrepreneurial spirit. He comes to the Pike County Chamber with a great deal of experience, enthusiasm and positive energy. “I am honored to be part of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce team,” stated Weiland. “The Chamber has a long history of growing our community, and I am looking forward to collaborating with volunteers and community leaders to continue our growth.” For more information about Women in Business or the Pike County Chamber of Commerce please visit www.pikechamber.com or call 570-296-8700.
