Pike film commission begins Web site
Milford The Pike County Film Commission is seeking local talent and resources for film, television, catalogue and video production. The Film Commission, a committee of the Pike County Visitors Bureau, announces its online resource directory at www.PikeFilm.com. “Pike County in the Pocono Mountains was once a haven for filmmaking, in the early 1900s, because of its extraordinary natural beauty and proximity to New York. We’re seeking to revitalize industry interest,” said Laurie McEvoy, who chairs the Film Commission. McEvoy, who is also the marketing director at Woodloch, is working with the Black Bear Film Festival, the Pennsylvania Film Office and others to raise Pike County’s profile within the industry. “The influx of population into Pike has brought talented people from the film industry, including actors, cinematographers, production designers, set designers and other necessary components to professional production. The Film Commission has undertaken the task of creating a comprehensive directory of these resources to make it even more attractive to bring production work and jobs to Pike County,” said Sean Strub, owner of the Hotel Fauchere in Milford. The Pike County Film Commissions’ website, PikeFilm.com, is a comprehensive directory of local talent, in front of and behind the camera. It includes designers, writers, electricians, construction workers, camera operators and others with technical skills. As well as actors, caterers, locations, dry cleaning service, animal trainers, lodging, hair stylists and more. They seek skill, talent and locations to offer potential production crews.
