Pike scouts help added needed warmth to winter coat drive

MILFORD - The young women of Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council 610 helped to provide warm winter coats for the residents in Pike County that are in need. DeAnn Connelly contacted the United Way of Pike County’s office in October wondering what her council could do to help our community. Once she was told that Wachovia Bank and UWPC will be collecting coats for Bushkill Outreach Center, she sprung into action. Within six weeks, DeAnn and the Girl Scout Council 610 had collected over five huge bags of coats. DeAnn stated, “This donation of clothing is a group effort. All the troops from Council 610 in the Milford, Matamoras, Shohola, and Dingman Delaware helped collect coats. Girls from troops 190, 217, and 243 helped to collect the coats and spent a Friday evening checking and counting each coat. If you are in need of a coat or food, contact Bushkill Outreach Center at 570-588-0660, 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Thursday.
