Planners honored in regional awards
WILKES-BARRE Lackawaxen Township residents, and founding members of the Lackawaxen River Conservancy, Gordon Wildermuth and Tom Zeterberg were honored last Thursday. They were among the recipients of the seventeenth annual Environmental Partnership Awards who were honored at an Oct. 18 dinner in Wilkes-Barre. Wildermuth and Zeterberg were named for their partnership efforts and as strong advocates of green infrastructure planning, resource conservation, smart growth and innovative planning implementation tools have worked to address the tremendous growth pressures facing Pike County and their local municipal officials. In presenting these awards, the Partners: Wilkes University, Pennsylvania Environmental Council’s NE Office, Northeast Pennsylvania Alliance, Procter & Gamble Paper Products Company, PPL Corporation and PA DEP/PA DCNR join together to recognize outstanding accomplishments and teamwork in achieving excellence in environmental protection or conservation in NEPA.
