Please, no butts in borough parks

MILFORD — Milford Borough officials are tired of seeing cigarette butts littering Memorial Park but they are not certain how to go about stopping it. Earlier this month, they considered a smoking prohibition ordinance. Councilman Ed Loeschorn suggested a designated smoking area for the teenagers, whom he blamed for the littering problem. “It came up because the butts are all over the place.” Loeschorn said. Councilman James Price suggested a $75 fine for anyone tossing a cigarette butt. Borough President Matt Osterberg was concerned about how a ban or fines could be enforced without adding more duties for borough police.
