Pocono Ranchlands man gets prison for numerous DUIs

    Three offenses in 13 months plus disorderly conduct after arrest earns Lehman man a four to 10 years MILFORD — A Pocono Ranchlands man was sentenced in Pike County Court of Common Pleas to a period of incarceration in a state correctional facility for four years to ten years. Frederick C. Schoenwandt, 48, entered guilty pleas to three separate counts of Driving Under the Influence which occurred on Nov. 28, 2008, Aug. 14 and Dec. 12, 2009. President Judge Joseph F. Kameen presided over the sentencing. Schoenwandt admitted that on Nov. 28, 2008 in Lehman Township he drove when he was incapable of safely doing so because he was under the influence of alcohol. Schoenwandt refused to submit to testing to determine his blood alcohol content. At the time of his arrest, did punch and kick walls and table in the holding area of the police station which resulted in a conviction for Disorderly Conduct. Schoenwandt was sentenced to a period of not less than two years to not more than five years incarceration for these offenses. Schoenwandt also admitted that on Aug. 14, 2009, he drove his vehicle in Pocono Ranchlands when his blood alcohol content was .240%. Schoenwandt was sentenced to a period of two to five years incarceration for this offense. Finally, Schoenwandt admitted that on Dec. 12, 2009, he operated his vehicle in Pocono Ranchlands when he was incapable of safely doing so because he was under the influence of alcohol. Schoenwandt was sentenced to two to five years incarceration for this offense. The period of incarceration on the last offense will run concurrently with his conviction on the first two offenses. In total, Schoenwandt will serve an aggregate term of incarceration in a state correctional facility of 4 years to 10 years. He will also be subject to $ 7,750 in fines and a license suspension of 54 months. Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin thanked the Pennsylvania state police, National Park Service, Pocono Ranchlands Security and the concerned citizens who assisted in securing the convictions of this recidivist DUI offender.
