MILFORD It was Thanksgiving in May for the Ecumenical food pantry in Milford last week. Local Post Office employees collected donations from households in Milford and Matamoras on Saturday, May 9, part of the annual “stamp out hunger” tradition, which is now in its 17th year nationally. Joe Biss and Vinny Giovanniello of the Matamoras Post Office reported that they collected an estimated 1,900 pounds of food, about one hundred more than last year. “Its unbelievable,” said Giovenniello. “It’s always the families that you don’t expect it from that give the most.” Nancy Holleran, director of the pantry, said that demand is increasing by the day and that the donations were greatly needed and appreciated.
