Predict rink could reopen for 2008

WESTFALL Apparently, a Westfall movie theater isn’t the only new entertainment venture soon to hit Pike County a new roller skating rink is planned for the now-vacant Big Wheel North building of Matamoras. According to a statement from new owners Jay Machin and Shelly Brohman, the new rink will not only include traditional skating night, but “Off the Wall” soccer, roller hockey, and field hockey as well. Brian Wrightson, former owner of the Jessup Sports Dome, will be in charge as its sports and concert coordinator. Other proposed events include live concerts from local and traveling bands, and “Rock n’ Skate” nights with live entertainment. The pair is looking forward to providing the Tri-State area with “some fun family entertainment.” Brohman and Machin are banking on an opening date early in the new year.
