Program can access free prescriptive drugs

    MILFORD - United Way of Pike County is sponsoring the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA)’s Help is Here Express. The bus will be rolling into Milford on Monday, Oct. 9. The Help is Here Express will be parked in front of the Pike County Courthouse from 2 to 4 p.m. The large orange bus serves as a traveling enrollment center for the assistance program. It is equipped with 10 computer terminals, phones and trained individuals to ensure the application process will run quick and easy. People are asked to provide basic medical and financial information and there is no minimum or maximum age for the program. In addition, not all of the programs are based on financial eligibility and you do not need to be enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid or PACE to qualify for assistance through the program. It serves as a clearing-house for 475 patient assistance programs. With so many different programs available, The program is a one-stop-shop to make the hundreds of assistance programs accessible to those who need them most. Since the program’s inception a year ago, more than 100,000 people in Pennsylvania alone have been helped through the PPA with almost 1 million helped nationwide.
