Psychiatric practice opening in Milford

Milford — Dr. Arthur E. Middleton, has a new practice in Milford, which will provide a full range of psychiatric services for adults including psychotherapy and medication management. The practice will focus on a variety of psychiatric conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder and substance abuse. Appointments are being accepted for new patients. Dr. Middleton has 28 years of clinical experience in teaching hospitals and private practice, including Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center and Medical Director of Behavioral Health Services at Bergen Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Governor’s Task Force in New Jersey on the Treatment, Wellness and Recovery Committee in 2005 and has published articles on psychiatric care and has had numerous speaking engagements in teaching facilities and public forums. He has also written in the popular press and appeared on television in Rhode Island, where he was on the clinical teaching faculty at Brown University Medical School. He has taught psychopharmacology in seminars at NJ Medical School and was also on the teaching faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in the Clinician/Educator Track. A Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Middleton received his undergraduate education at New York University and Doctor of Medicine Degree from Rutgers Medical School (Robert Wood Johnson Medical School). He completed an internship at Hackensack University Medical Center, followed by psychiatric residencies at the New Jersey Medical School and St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York City. Middleton is currently a clinical associate professor of Psychiatry at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of N.J. and Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center. He is on the staff of Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a member of the American College of Physician Executives, National Medical Association, American Society of Addiction Medicine, American Association of Psychiatric Administrators and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
