Reading pays off at Delaware Valley Elementary School

WESTFALL Lunch with Principal, Mrs. Sonya Cole is always an exciting event, but when the guests are sixth graders it’s especially awesome. At the end of the school year, top sixth grade readers from Delaware Valley Elementary School were treated to lunch at Perkins with their principal, followed by dessert at the Polar Bear. This year’s celebration of reading was noteworthy because Mrs. Cole has been taking top students to lunch as part of the school’s Wampum Reading Incentive for the past 20 years. Another reason to celebrate was this was the first year she took sixth graders from DVES. Many of the students that went to lunch with Mrs. Cole have been going to lunch in celebration or reading for all of their elementary school years. These students will soon be returning to school, but as seventh graders at the Delaware Valley Middle School. In addition to lunch and dessert, students received a special book from Mrs. Cole.
