HAWLEY - The Pike County Republican Committee held its annual committee dinner recently at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort in Hawley, Pennsylvania. Kevin Stroyan, Master of Ceremonies, introduced the evening’s keynote speaker, Don Sherwood, Pike’s Congressman. Sherwood talked about bringing more money into Pike County for preservation of its precious green space. Sherwood’s main speaking points regarded the Governor’s decision to funnel transportation funds towards its larger cities and out the rural areas. The decision hit home last winter when particular areas of Pike County were unable to salt its roads due to lack of funding. Sherwood said that “he [Governor Rendell] is a great Governor for the cities of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.” Pike County Republican Committee is headed by Chairman Kathy Hummel, Vice-Chairman Dr. James Alborano, Treasurer Michael Peifer and Secretary Greg Chelak. Commissioner Harry Forbes attended and led the Pledge of Allegiance and Commissioner Richard Caridi gave the Invocation. David Madeira, candidate for State Senator representing Pike County, attended the evening’s event. Madeira owns the Better Health Center in Dallas, Pennsylvania. He is the current President of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Educational and Charitable Foundation.
