Reward offered in bald eagle shooting
FLANDERS, N.J. - The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting a bald eagle found near Dingman’s Falls Visitor Center in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Pennsylvania in November The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the National Park Service are together offering an additional $2,500 reward. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, a hiker found a dead eagle on the bank of Dingmans Creek by Doodle Hollow Road near Milford on Nov. 25. A necropsy determined the eagle, thought to be two years old, died from a gunshot. This year, passersby found two other dead bald eagles in New York State, both shot by a gun. One was found in late March near the St. Lawrence-Jefferson County line and one in November in Saratoga County. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the National Park Service are investigating the shooting.
