Rotary announces essay contest
MILFORD The Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club has announced an essay contest open to all 11th grade students in Milford, Matamoras, and surrounding communities. The theme for the 250 to 300 word essay is “How Sharing Improves the World.” The club is offering cash awards of $100, $75 and $50 for the first, second, and third prize winners. In addition, the Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club will invite the top three essay winners to present their essays at a regular luncheon meeting of the club. The winning essay will also be forwarded to a district rotary competition that offers a $1,000 grand prize, a $500 second prize, and a $250 third prize. In addition, the top 20 essays will receive a Certificate of Commendation, suitable for inclusion hi college applications. The winner of this contest will be invited to share his/her essay at a District Awards Ceremony on May 18. Eleventh grade students hi the Delaware Valley School District will have an opportunity to participate in the contest through the school. Alternatively, essays can be mailed by Feb. 29 to John Wroblewski, 199 Hawthorne Drive, Milford, PA 18337. Only one entry per student is allowed. The decision of the panel ofjudges is final.
