MILFORD - The Rotary Club of Lords Valley donated $500 to Survivors’ Resources of Milford at the annual picnic meeting held at the Survivors’ Resources location in Milford. Sue Hines, member of the Rotary, presented the check to Elaine Dwyre, career development specialist at Survivors. The Lords Valley Rotary has a long history of supporting the work of Survivors’ Resources. Besides generous annual donations to the agency, the Lords Valley Rotary backed the first humanitarian project funded by the Rotary Foundation in District 7410 of northeast Pennsylvania, which resulted in the presentation of a new Dodge Caravan to Survivors’ Resources in 2003. The van is used every day by Survivors’ staff to transport victims to court and other agencies when needed, and for transportation for staff to give public awareness presentations and prevention education at area schools. The van has also been used to transport the newly organized teen group, RYOT (Rallying Youth Organizers Together Against Rape) to Harrisburg and Washington, D.C. Donations and support like this keep the work of Survivors’ Resources happening. Ravenell Williams IV, of the Lords Valley Rotary said, “We are always looking for volunteers so we can do more good work for agencies like Survivors’ Resources.” Persons interested in rotary membership can call Roy Hart @ Hart Insurance Agency 570-775-2830.
