SCAMP' yard sale and raffle

to benefit summer programs WESTFALL A community yard sale and tray raffle will be held at Delaware Valley Elementary School on Saturday, Oct. 13, 8 a.m.- 1 p.m., benefiting SCAMP. Bad weather will move the sale inside to the gym. Spaces are $20, with tables $30, and are available by calling 570-296-1822. Spaces will be available on the day of the sale. SCAMP is a summer program for the students of DVES that is part school and part camp. It runs 7 weeks in the summer for children enrolled at DVES. The program has been very successful for the last several years it has run. The children love coming to work and play with other children. It certainly helps them academically. They do not lose skills over the summer because they continue to practice them. The Tray Raffle will take place during the sale in the cafeteria. Tickets will be sold on the day of the sale. You need not be present to win because the tickets will include your phone number so we can call winners who are not there for the calling. Winners may pick up items at the school for the next week. There will be lots of interesting trays. Each week, SCAMP visitors provide information sessions for the children. Many of these are science and environmentally based and are high interest for the Scampers. On Fridays, the children travel to a nearby state or national park for a day of recreation and fun. Swimming and group games are part of the day. The children use the high school pool as part of their daily schedule. Although swimming is a high priority, those children who do not swim are involved with water play at the school. A Scanteen is available for lunch and snacks although parents may send their own. Bring your second-hand treasures, pull up a chair, and enjoy the day in our front yard. Then move to the cafeteria and join the fun at the Tray Raffle.
