Scouting for the food pantry

During their December pack meeting, Milford Cub Scouts Pack 71 presented over 30 grocery bags of food to Father Bill McGinty of Good Shepherd Church for the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Milford. Each cub scout “scouted for food” by requesting donations of non-perishable food items from their neighbors. Father Bill personally thanked each and every scout, with a handshake, for their “food deeds.” He also discussed the operations and benefits of the local food pantry, along with some reminiscing about his own scouting experiences, growing up in England. The Milford Cub Scouts continuously work on community service projects throughout the year. They also recently mailed dozens of holiday cards to American soldiers who are currently recovering at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. All boys in grades 1-5 are encouraged to join Cub Scouting. Skills learned will last a lifetime. For more information, please call Liz Nathan, committee chairperson at 570-409-8351.
