Scouts ask Governor to keep High Point

WANTAGE, N.J. Cub Scout Pack 183 Den #3 visited High Point State Park and explored the Kuser Natural Area on Sunday, Apr. 13 for their “Go See it!” hike. While learning about vernal ponds, different types of pine trees, and looking for Barred Owls, the Cub Scouts learned that Governor Corzine is planning to close the park for fiscal reasons. Springing into action, the Vernon, N.J. scouts dedicated a letter that each of the Cub Scouts then wrote to a letter to Governor Corzine with the following message: “Dear Governor Corzine, We visited High Point State Park. It was beautiful! The park is special to everyone. We saw frogs, birds, pine trees and a lake. Please do not close it!” Pedro Miranda, Luca Ondris, Michael Clancy, Nicola Ramella and Kyle McCurry are working on their Tiger Cub Badge. They are hopeful that by writing to Governor Corzine that High Point State Park will be left open for the benefit of all.
