MILFORD — The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering a day full of educational programs for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in Milford on Friday, Sept. 25. These programs are made possible thanks to a partnership with the Pike County Economic Development Authority (PCEDA) and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce. “The First Step: Starting Your Business” will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Whether your idea is brand new or well thought out, this seminar will provide you with the start-up basics you need to develop a small business in Pennsylvania. Registrations, licenses, business structures, taxation, and research tools will be covered, as well as what to expect in financing, expense and sales estimation, and resources. An experienced SBDC consultant will help guide you through the often challenging process of putting your small business ideas into action. “Building Your Business Plan” will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. The business plan is critical for planning purposes and for those seeking financing, not only for new businesses, but also for existing businesses. This session covers the metrics and rules of developing a business plan, composing a narrative with solid research, understanding and compiling financial projections, understanding the lending process and documentation lenders request, and more.
