Siptroth begins new term in Pa. legislature
HARRISBURG State Rep. John Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike, was sworn in to begin his second full term in the Pennsylvania General Assembly at the state Capitol Tuesday. Siptroth was first elected in a special election in 2005. The swearing-in ceremony in the House chamber marked the beginning of the 193 legislative session. The state constitution mandates the legislature convene at noon on the first Tuesday of January each year. Siptroth said this year will be challenging for the legislature considering the economic downturn and funding hurdles for this years’ state budget, but he pledged to continue to fight for Pocono communities’ interests. The lawmaker’s main office is at 4 Jay Park, Dartmouth Drive, Marshalls Creek. The phone number is 570-223-2636, or toll free at 866-604-5578. There are also satellite office hours in the West End and in Pike County. Dates and times for those office hours are available from his main office.
