Smoking opponents show support

Representatives from the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, Tobacco, Drug, and Alcohol Coalitions, and students met with Senator Lisa Baker earlier this month to show support for smoke-free workplace legislation. On Jan. 31, the Pennsylvania Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee approved a comprehensive, smoke-free workplace bill. The legislation now moves to the full Senate for a vote. The measure, if approved, will expand the list of public places where smoking is prohibited by preventing smoking areas in most commercial establishments and workplaces across the commonwealth.
