Goshen, N.Y. — It happened again. Three angels and two rosaries were taken from the grave of 1st Lt. Lou Allen, as his sister discovered during an Easter Sunday visit to the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen. “My aunt and mom each had rosaries on the tree,” said Laurene Sandstrom of Goshen. “Now there is only one angel and no rosaries.” “I would love to know what kind of person steals angels from a grave,” she said. “I cannot even think to put them up anymore. The angels meant something very special to me and whoever is taking them took that from me as well.” Sandstrom has been getting angels every year for the gravesite of her brother, who was killed in Tikrit, Iraq, in June 2005. Two pewter angels disappeared from the site last year Born and raised in Chester, N.Y., Allen lived with his wife and four sons in Milford. He taught school in Tuxedo, N.Y. Allen’s family hopes that whoever took the angels will put them back on the trees where they were found.
