Special meeting will consider traffic study

MILFORD - Is the borough ready for one-way streets and new traffic patterns? Will memories of summer traffic snarls and vanished parking spaces remain clear in March? The council has scheduled a 7 p.m. meeting on Monday, March 19, to consider solutions to growing traffic problems in the borough. Earlier this month, copies of the executive summary of a year-long traffic study were distributed to council members by Borough Council President Matt Osterberg. “That’s all I printed. The rest of it is this thick,” he said gesturing the width of a Manhattan telephone directory. Most of the remainder is statistics and appendices, he added. Amid complaints about traffic congestion in town, the council obtained $34,000 in state and Delaware River Bridge Commission grants to fund the study by a Dunmore engineering group. The meeting will be the third this month. The panel met on March 12 and authorized the purchase of a truck for the street department. Osterberg said Wednesday that the search for a vehicle to meet the borough’s specifications is continuing.
