MILFORD - The board of Delaware Valley Cal Ripken Baseball is busy preparing for opening day on Saturday, Apr 8. Last Saturday, the board held it’s annual baseball clinic for both coaches and players at the Delaware Valley Middle School gym. The clinic featured professionals from the Hum’nbirds Training Facility in Pine Bush, N.Y. All age groups were present throughout the day which included special training sessions for team coaches. “This is an important day for our baseball league,” stated league President Joe Decker. “It launches our season and helps both players and coaches get prepared for the upcoming games and practices. We are excited that our league continues to grow, year after year. It shows the board that we are on the right track to have kids encouraged to play the game of baseball. This is what it is all about, the kids. Without kids and their interest, there would be no baseball league.” The board extended its thanks to all for their generous donations. The league offered thanks the Delaware Valley School District for the use of their facilities for clinics and the season. Prime Time Meats donated over 300 hot dogs for clinic day and Shoprite donated 15 dozen rolls. Price Chopper gave a $10 gift card and Wal-Mart provided a $50 gift card to purchase supplies. On Thursday, March 23, there will be a mandatory coaches meeting held in the high school auditorium. All background checks must be turned in at the meeting. All team rosters are being finalized and players should expect to hear from their coaches by the end of next week. For more information about the league visit their website at www.dvbaseball.com.
