WESTFALL - The Warrior football season closed Jan. 6 with the Awards Banquet where the team bid farewell to the graduating seniors. The varsity team ended the season with an 8-3 record, coming second in both the district and the league. The junior varsity season came to a close with six wins, one tie, and one loss. Crowned division one champions, the freshman football team ended undefeated with a record of 8-1-0. Head Coach Keith Olsommer stated that this graduating group of varsity players are responsible for evolving Warrior football to what it is today, saying that they “put us on the map.” As a goodbye gift, he presented each senior with his jersey. Olsommer added that despite how their high expectations were not met this year, given the disappointing loss of the three final games, he remained very impressed and encouraged the underclassmen to continue with hard work and dedication. Awards winners included; Pat Casey with the Offense Award, Ian Sumner, the Defense Award, Richie Hearon and Frankie Colletta were named co-MVP’s, and Jeff Briggs won the Warrior Award. Elijah Grillo, Jess Harr, Robert Pike, and Billy Pore respectively received honors for the Defense Award, Warrior Award, Offense Award, and MVP for the 2005 Junior Varsity team.
