, Pa. — Camelback Resort opened Dec. 13 for day and night skiing and snowboarding, officially launching its 53 ski season.
The Snowtubing Park, the largest in the nation, opened on Dec. 17.
“We’re experiencing ideal snowmaking conditions and have been running the snowguns around the clock, allowing us to open more terrain literally day after day,” said Brian Czarnecki, vice president of sales and marketing.
The near foot of snow that has fallen already this season and low temperatures has helped, he said.
"We anticipate excellent conditions and a fully opened mountain for the Christmas Holiday week," said Czarnecki.
Camelback Resort offers winter fun for beginners and advanced skiiers and snowboarders. The resort includes a lodge and the largest indoor waterpark (set at 84 degrees Fahrenheit) in the Northeast.
The resort's 34 trails are all illuminated for night skiing and snowboarding. There are 16 lifts.
On Wednesday the resort debuted Galactic Snowtubing, an after-dark snowtubing experience featuring laser lit lanes and LED light show across 42 lanes.
Named the #1 place in America to learn to ski and snowboard by the Huffington Post, Camelback Resort also received the Conversion Cup from the National Ski Area Association for excellence in beginner programs, in particular, its Terrain Based Learning programs. Camelback first opened in 1963 with 14 trails and three lifts serving 41,656 skiers. Today Camelback serves more than 1.7 million visitors.
