WESTFALL - The Delaware Valley Boys’ basketball team was defeated by the Scranton Prep Cavaliers last Friday, by a final score of 79-70. The Warriors were on the short end of the scoring for the great majority of the game. The first quarter ended with the score at 15-22. The second quarter did not offer much more hope for Delaware Valley as they ended the first half down by nine points despite to two back-to-back 3-point shots scored by sophomore Ryan Murphy. An intense third quarter brought the boys within two points of the Cavaliers after freshman Jacinto Russo scored for two points with less than two minutes on the clock. The teams were tied in the fourth with about six minutes left in the contest after Jaywong Benton, a Delaware Valley senior, sunk a foul shot. The Warriors rallied as Murphy, followed by Russo, secured a four point lead over Scranton. Freshman Rockie Tice scored off a Cavalier rebound, but the Cavaliers came back to tie the score once more at 68-68. Ray Soto brought the Warriors into the lead again leaving the DV score at 70-68, with a little over a minute left in the game, but the Cavaliers followed with eleven unanswered points to take the victory.
