Gold Key run/walk to raise money for swimmers and warriors

— The second annual 5K around Gold Key Lake will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2.
"Last year was our first year hosting the 5K run and walk around our beautiful lake," says the announcement from Gold Key Country Club in Milford, which is hosting the 5K. "It was a great success, both financially for our charities, as well as for our participants."
Registration and bib pickup begins at 8 a.m. and the race at 9 a.m. Registration before Sept. 25 costs $20 for adults, $15 for children, and $60 for families (two adults and minor children). All participants who register before this date will be guaranteed a race T-shirt. Race day registration will be available for $25 per person.
This year, all proceeds will be split between two charities, the Gold Key Gators Swim Team and the Keystone Wounded Warriors.
The Gators swim competitively in the Pocono Mountain Summer Swim League each summer. Children ages 3 to 18 learn to swim and then perfect their strokes in a fun atmosphere. The Gators support each other and build each other up, all while participating in an active lifestyle.
The Keystone Wounded Warriors are a division of the Wounded Warrior Project that benefits wounded soldiers from Pennsylvania. "These men and woman have sacrificed so much for our country and us all," says the club. "We hope that our contribution will in some way improve their lives and let them know how grateful we are for their service and sacrifice."
The GK5K is a family event with many options — a 5K run or walk, with prizes for the top finishers in each category, as well as a “One Mile Gator Walk” for participation on a smaller scale. Live entertainment will be provided by sponsor Larry Martone during and after the race. Refreshments will be provided.
A “Kids Fun Run” after the race is for smaller children, so they can feel what it's like to cross that finish line and get a medal — and maybe become a future GK5K runner.
