Kittatinny Canoes’ 28th Annual “On and Under the Delaware River Clean Up” is slated for July 17 to 19.
Kittatinny Canoes' annual river cleanup is a major success, in large part to our faithful volunteers who come back year after year, according to the company.
Hundreds of volunteers give their time to help preserve and protect the ecology of the river and its inhabitants.
Kittatinny provides complimentary canoes, campsites, breakfast and a barbecue dinner to all of the volunteers.
The volunteers are organized according to skill, some just picking up trash and debris along the banks and where the water is shallow; others are divers and snorkelers who concentrate on the deeper sections of the river.
During the previous 27 years of doing this cleanup, volunteers have removed 8,967 tires, 8,750 pounds of aluminum cans and a total of 457.48 tons of trash.
