Westfall - Delaware Valley senior, Nicole Philpot recently signed a Letter of Intent to attend Dominican College on a softball scholarship. Dominican College is a NCAA Division-II school located in Orangeburg, New York. Nicole, Delaware Valley’s centerfielder, is a four-year varsity player and has contributed greatly to the Warrior’s run of four consecutive Lackawanna League titles. Last season, Nicole hit a blistering .417 out of the number two spot in a very potent DV lineup. She was a first team Lackawanna League All-Star, marking the second time she has received that honor. Nicole is also a member of the Tri-State Angels, a local travel team. With the Angels, Nicole has had the opportunity to play in numerous college showcases throughout the Northeast. Nicole helped lead the Angels to a 5th place finish at the Nationals in 2004. Dominican Head softball coach, Rick Kransy says, “Nicole is the catalyst we have been looking for. She has a great small game and then can fool you with some power. She will be a great addition to the top of our lineup.” Delaware Valley software coach, Angelo Matz adds, “Nicole is one of the hardest workers and most intense players I have ever coached. Dominican will be very happy with her.” Nicole plans to major in Education at Dominican College. Her scholarship package will cover more than two thirds of the $28,000 cost of the school. Nicole is the daughter of Kim and Ken Philpot of Dingmans Ferry.
