Runners, walkers sought for Grey Towers’ 8K

MILFORD — Registration is now open for the Grey Towers Heritage Association's 8K Run/Walk planned for Saturday, April 23.
Runners and walkers of all levels are encouraged to take part in this annual kick-off for Grey Towers' spring season.
The race will start and end at Grey Towers National Historic site in Milford. The course includes parts of the Pinchot Greenway in the Borough of Milford and Milford Beach in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
Participants will be running on open streets, with a portion of the race on a dirt road. Course monitors will be in place to ensure safe street crossings.
Winter warm-up practice walks along the course are planned for Thursdays at 10 a.m., beginning Feb. 25.
This is a certified USA Track and Field 8K course.
Entry and Chronotrack Fees are as follows:
Adult pre-registration: $25 plus fees before April 1, or $30 plus fees after April 1
Youth age 17 and under: $15 plus fees
Children under 12 (accompanied by an adult): $5
Awards will be given to the top-placed runners in each of the following age categories, further split into male and female:
14 and under
15-20
21-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70 plus
This is the fourth year that Grey Towers is organizing this event, encouraged by the success of last year's participation.
Proceeds will help the U.S. Forest Service preserve and protect the massive and historic European Copper Beech trees on the estate grounds.
Volunteers are sought to help on the course or at Grey Towers. The Grey Towers mansion will be open for brief walk-through visits on the morning of the race.
