WESTFALL - Long time soccer rivals, Abington Heights and Delaware Valley, battled it out on the artificial turf on Sept. 30 The Warriors came out on top, 2-1 Throughout the entire first half of the game the nets remained pristine, as no goals were put on the board. What appeared like an evenly matched offense and defense took a dramatic turn in the second half of the game. Only a few minutes in, Brad Houseknecht put one in the net, prompting a field-wide Warrior celebration. With a little under 25 minutes left on the clock, Delaware Valley’s Keith Fritschie dribbled toward the Abington net and put the ball in the air in position for Ben Frear to head it past the Comets’ goal tender. The two-goal lead remained unanswered for several minutes before Abington Heights replied, but Delaware Valley held the one goal lead as the clock expired. The Warriors’ season record now stands at 6-2.
